Qualifications

The County Treasurer collects state and county tax payments, primarily consisting of the real estate and personal property taxes which make up the majority of funding for our county government. I have lived in Washington County my whole life and would bring a unique blend of financial and technical expertise to the Treasurer’s Office.

I started my technology career in the private sector working for a small business that developed budgeting software for large municipal and county governments, like Howard County here in Maryland and San Mateo County in California. My professional experience includes performing technical and financial compliance assessments of information systems handling transactions totaling millions of dollars per year and managing the technology of those systems and the teams which maintained them.

I have an MBA with a Finance Concentration, a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Physics. I hold professional certifications in information system auditing and security. I am an ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and an ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). I will manage the people and systems delivering tax collection services for the taxpayers of Washington County so that these services are provided in a way that is secure, reliable, accurate, and aligned with county operations.

Priorities

As the elected Treasurer, I will work for and be accountable to you, the citizens of Washington County, directly. Long term, taxpayers deserve service that is taxpayer-focused, accurate, and efficient. My immediate priorities will be to establish the integrity of the office and its operations, improve relationships and cooperation with citizens and local government officials, and make sure operations are aligned with county governance.

Lifelong Republican

My roots in the Republican Party are deep, spanning over three decades. I am a lifelong Republican. I registered as member of the Republican Party when Ronald Reagan was President and have been a registered Republican ever since. I was a member of the Vanderbilt University College Republicans, founded a chapter of the Maryland Young Republicans in Washington County, and was elected Treasurer and then First Vice-President of the Washington County Republican Club.

Later, in 2013 I was appointed as a Member of the Washington County Republican Central Committee. I was elected to the Central Committee in 2014 and then re-elected in 2018 and 2022. I served as the Committee's First Vice Chair from 2014 to 2021 and its Chair in 2021 and 2022. During my time on the Central Committee, I have helped appoint multiple state legislators, county commissioners, and board members.

In 2024, I was elected as an Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention representing the Sixth Congressional District.

Politically, I believe in conservative principles of governance and the traditional values we share here in Western Maryland. I am a Republican because our Republican Party represents those principles and values better than any other political party. Creating a more effective and efficient government requires working with people. The people in the Republican Party are the best and I know I can work with them to achieve great things for everyone.
